$123M Jury Verdict

THE WORST MASS TRANSIT DISASTER IN SEATTLE HISTORY

On September 24, 2015, the worst mass transit disaster in Seattle history occurred when a Ride the Ducks amphibious vehicle full of tourists suffered a catastrophic axle fracture on the Aurora Bridge and crashed into a Motor Coach carrying international students from North Seattle College. A total of five students were killed and 70 others injured.

The Stritmatter Firm was lead counsel for a group of almost 50 plaintiffs including family members of three students who were killed. These plaintiffs either hired us directly or were represented by co-counsel who banded together with us.

A four-month trial was held between October 1, 2018, and February 7, 2019. The plaintiffs were represented in trial by the Firm. After nine days of deliberation, the jury entered a verdict for more than $123 Million against Ride the Ducks Seattle, the tour operator, and Ride the Ducks International, the manufacturer.

Every case is different and results depend on their specific circumstances. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
