A Letter from The Stritmatter Firm:

Dear Clients, Friends, and Family,

As we approach the November 5 general election, The Stritmatter Firm is reaching out to share the names of candidates we believe are strong supporters of protecting your rights. We want to share with you two races that are often overlooked that are important to “civil justice.”

What is “civil justice”? This involves individuals protecting their rights through the courts and the civil justice system. This means protecting the right to a jury trial and fighting against power imbalances in the justice system.

Why is electing pro-civil justice candidates important? The right to access the courts is a critical tool for individuals seeking to hold powerful entities accountable under the law, regardless of the individual’s financial resources. When the government fails to adequately protect innocent people, a robust civil justice system provides an avenue to holding wrongdoers accountable.

The Supreme Court, or court of last resort, holds a crucial position in civil justice and the rule of law. Here in Washington, these non-partisan justices are elected for six-year terms. They do not hear trials of cases; rather, they hear appeals of decisions made in the lower trial and appellate courts.

The Office of Insurance Commissioner is also vital to civil justice. The Commissioner enforces the law to protect insurance consumers and sets and enforces standards that the insurance industry must abide by. Only eleven states elect their insurance commissioner. It is no coincidence that these states rate very highly on the list of insurance protections. Voters across the political spectrum want a champion for their rights. You have paid your premiums, the insurance industry needs to keep their promise.

The Stritmatter Firm appreciates and respects that there is a broad spectrum of political views and that the choice of who to vote for is rarely decided by one issue alone. Please know that we value different viewpoints and support you voting for the people who you feel will best represent your interests. We just want to make sure you have this information.

Thank you for taking the time to vote! Please reach out to us with any questions you may have. The right to vote is the foundation of our democracy. We are excited to vote for these pro-civil justice candidates this November, and we encourage you to do the same!

Sincerely,
The Stritmatter Firm
