Relentless, we press on
Through legal storms and strife
Federal judges may scorn us
State judges may chide
Yet we stand our ground, unyielding
We embrace the cases others shun
Side by side in the trenches, we toil
Weathering verbal assaults
And the weary defense’s salvos
For justice is no easy conquest
Not for those who wield power
Or the faint-hearted who fear the courtroom
Who settle for less, pockets lined with ease
From their lofty perches
They’ve forgotten the arduous climb
Unaware that their summit
Is but the floor of the cosmos
SKKM takes the blows, falls, rises
Resilient, we stand and strike anew

About the Author
I am Irani-Iraqi and grew up in Tehran.  Iran was in a middle of a war with Iraq.  Our city was bombed at night. My mom was scared that I would be sent off to fight in the war like other children my age.  She was scared that we would die.  She decided that we needed to leave our homeland.
