Ms. Flores-Perez had just graduated from Columbia University and returned home to work and be with her family. She was participating in an Open Water Scuba class in Seattle when she was separated from the instructor and drowned. The estate brought claims on behalf of Ms. Flores-Perez’s parents alleging that the Scuba instructor failed to adequately supervise the class and abandoned Ms. Flores-Perez, causing her death.
