Sofie v Fibreboard, a landmark case, removed the cap on recoveries for personal injury & wrongful death claimants.

Sofie v. Fibreboard, even after 25 years remains one of the most important cases for personal injury and wrongful death plaintiffs. Cited by courts throughout the country, the decision has since abolished the “cap” on damages contained in RCW 4.56.250.

Paul Stritmatter, Bill Rutzick, and some of the finest plaintiff’s attorneys argued before the Washington State Supreme Court. Listen to the powerful argument:

Invited as the Keynote Speaker at the Washington State Association for Justice Amicus Appreciation on October 29, 2014, Paul Stritmatter shared fascinating details of the case that blew away the cap on damages. The entire audience gave Paul a standing ovation for his moving speech. Everyone was reminded that–thanks to Sofie–attorneys who represent the catastrophically injured or wrongful death clients are no longer limited by the statute deemed unconstitutional by our State Supreme Court.
