Our firm has filed two lawsuits on behalf of the families of two young adults, Cale Tyler and Alexandria Lewis, who were killed at a deceptively dangerous railroad crossing in the Old Town section of Tacoma, which cuts through the only pedestrian path to the popular waterfront. In each case, a slow freight train passed in one direction, and after it went by, they started crossing behind it, only to be blindsided from the other direction by a fast-moving Amtrak train concealed by the size and noise of the freight train. Cale and Alexandria died almost exactly one year apart. The City of Tacoma was aware of this problem for many years, but failed to provide a safe pedestrian crossing over the tracks. Cale left behind his almost newlywed bride. Alexandria left behind her husband and two small children. This case is currently in litigation. Last updated 12.18.2017.
