Young Teresa Cooper lost the love of her life, when her 30 year old husband, Allan, lost his life on the job. They were high school sweethearts.
Allan Cooper was a skilled 30-year-old carpenter who was highly valued by his employer, Sierra Construction Co. of Woodinville, Washington. Mr. Cooper had been married to his wife Teresa since July 16, 1999. Mr. Cooper was part of Sierra’s crew that was building the new Mukilteo City Hall.
On the date of the occurrence, a concrete pour was in progress. Defendant Ralph’s trucks and employees were present on this job site. Defendant Miles Sand & Gravel furnished the concrete through its wholly owned subsidiary Concrete Northwest. A Ralph’s pump operator violated safe workplace practices in a number of respects. Compressed air in the hose from defendant Ralph’s truck caused it to whip violently, striking Allan Cooper in the back of the head, killing him instantly.
This event was subsequently investigated by the Washington Department of Labor & Industries who issued a citation for a serious safety violation to Ralph’s.
